Diesel Mechanic
Automation Personnel Services is looking for a reliable and motivated Diesel Mechanic for a company based in Southwest Houston, Texas.  This position is primarily responsible for repair and maintenance of forklifts, heavy equipment and trucks in accordance with factory and industry standards, running diagnostics where applicable, and working closely with other team members to meet company goals.

Pay Rate 
$20.00 – $22.00 an hour
 
Schedule and Hours  
Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm 
 
Diesel Mechanic Duties and Responsibilities
• Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications
• Repair and replace damaged or worn parts
• Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs.
• Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
• Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
• Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
• Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment and keep equipment service records.
• Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
• Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies, such as transmissions and crawler heads, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes.
• Adjust and maintain industrial machinery, using control and regulating devices.
• Observe all safety precautions and always wear appropriate PPE
• Cross-train on alternate assignments and perform duties in other work areas as needed
• Any other duties as requested by respective supervisor and/or manager
 
Diesel Mechanic Qualifications and Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED
• Knowledge of Diesel Engine and Hydraulic System diagnostics and preventive maintenance
• 1-3 years’ experience
• Ability to work flexible and/or extended hours and weekends (normal schedule: 45 hrs.)
• Work involves long periods of standing, squatting, bending, twisting and reaching; may also include climbing
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions – heat, cold, rain
• Good manual dexterity, including the ability to make precise finger movements and the ability to keep arms and hands steady
